A Cook Abroad: Series 1 Culinary travelogue in which celebrity cooks and chefs visit foreign countries to sample their food and culture.
[edit] Dave Myer's Egypt
Beginning with Dave Myers travelling to Egypt. The Hairy Biker fulfils a boyhood dream by visiting the pyramids at Giza, goes to the oasis of Al Fayoum in search of a dish with mythical properties and heads to a place on the banks of the Nile where ancient man first turned to farming. To mark the end of his journey, Dave is invited by a family of Nubians for a feast to celebrate the end of Eid Al Adha, and helps prepare a traditional meal that has become famous across the entire Arab world.

Edinburgh chef Tony Singh travels to the state of Punjab to trace his family's roots and discover whether his mum's Punjabi cooking is authentic. He visits Amritsar during the festival of Diwali, receives an exclusive invitation to eat and cook with a maharajah and meets the Nihang, an order of nomadic Sikh warriors. Tony discovers how the Sikh religion and the Punjab's troubled past have created a food and culture like no other, and ends his epic adventure at his ancestral home in New Delhi with his 93-year-old uncle.

The MasterChef judge fulfills a lifelong ambition to go to Argentina, where he embarks on an epic road trip to find the best cut of steak in the world and the ideal method of cooking it. Along the way, John discovers that modern industrial farming has changed the landscape of the pampas and threatened a way of life unchanged for centuries. He joins a group of gauchos on a working livestock ranch, before ending at a fabled restaurant in Mendoza where cooking beef has become an art form.

The MasterChef: The Professionals judge embarks on a culinary road trip through the Jura region of eastern France, spending time with the area's food producers to sees how their passion translates into world-class ingredients. She joins a boar hunt and faces up to the responsibility of eating meat, learns the secret of making some of the UK's favourite French cheeses and discovers an ancient profession she never knew existed. Finally on the slopes of Mont d Or, Monica prepares a rustic feast using produce she gathered herself.

The chef goes on a culinary tour of Australia, which he fell in love with on his first visit at the age of 19 and where he now spends part of the year at his home in Mollymook, New South Wales. At Botany Bay - the site of James Cook's first landing - he does some foraging and learns the art of cooking the Aboriginal way, before heading to the state of Tasmania. There he goes hunting for wallaby, samples one of the best single malt whiskies in the world and tastes sustainably farmed salmon that has become a national obsession.

The cook and food writer goes on a culinary tour of the Southeast Asian country. She begins in the capital Kuala Lumpur, gaining her first insights into Malaysian food and culture from family members she hasn't seen since childhood. Rachel then meets cooks and students at her father's old school and begins to find out why Malaysian food is so complex, before she heads to Penang, the food capital of the country, and discovers why Malaysia is a great place to be young, female and Muslim.
